"I'm So Happy To Meet Nigerian's President, Goodluck Jonathan" - World Richest Man, Bill Gates

Thursday, September 26, 2013

World Richest Man, Bill Gates, I'm So Happy To Meet Nigerian's President, Goodluck Jonathan

According to Bill Gates, he was happy he had a good meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria with regards to Polio cases in Nigeria which are down 50% from this time last year.

Below is the report from Bill gates' website:

It's the kickoff to U.N. Week here in New York, and while locals like to complain about the traffic (I can see why), it is a great opportunity for me to meet with leaders from parts of the world where our foundation is working—to talk about global health and development projects.

I started off on Monday morning meeting Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan. Besides our work with our partners on polio in Nigeria, we are also working with the government to improve their agricultural sector. I've written before about China's potentialto help developing countries in Africa learn from its successes, but in Nigeria we have a really interesting project just getting off the ground where Brazil is working with Nigeria to bring up agricultural productivity in their northern Guinea savannah.

Brazil has done an amazing job helping their own farmers in the Cerrado region to improve their yields, which brings tremendous economic and social benefits. President Jonathan assembled a meeting of experts in New York and we spent a couple of hours reviewing their progress and discussing next steps. I also had a chance to catch up with President Jonathan about the work we're doing with our partners on polio, which is showing encouraging progress. Nigeria had 43 confirmed cases of polio in the first 8 months of 2013, a drop of 50 percent from the same period last year.

Finishing the job is quite an undertaking, so having the President's support is a big deal. I was pleased we got to spend as much time together as we did.

Jonathan Makes His Own Demands: Gives Condition for Peace

Saturday, September 7, 2013

Jonathan Makes His Own Demands
It appears that President Goodluck Jonathan was jolted by the harsh criticism he got from one of his die-hard men and supporter of his second term ambition, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, recently.

Asari has condemned the manner in which President Jonathan was handling the PDP crisis with kid gloves, as he called on him to be a real Ijaw man and call the bluff of all "dissidents" trying to denying him his right, one that is constitutional, to remain the president come 2015.

After consultations, President Jonathan has given his own conditions too:
We observed that Jonathan, speaking through his adviser on Political Matters, Dr Ahmed Gulak, insisted that he will not succumb to any "unreasonable terms" from those who are after his job.

Reacting to the thorny issue of 2015 and demands of the Atiku Abubakar faction, Gulak said “The President as the leader of the party has no objection to any peace move either from inside or outside. He always encourages peace talks; he prefers solving disagreement through dialogue. He believes in peace.

“It is not true that the President is not ready to discuss with Governor Amaechi. Peace move is all inclusive, depending on reasonable and acceptable terms.”

A source told us that Jonathan is set to contest the 2015 election as PDP candidate no matter what anybody thinks. He is said to have indicated his readiness to go ahead with the ten governors said to be loyal to him, believing that he would enjoy the structures of the Old PDP in several states.

I hear Jonathan is now trying to win new "friends" that will work for him if the peace moves fail and governors in the Atiku faction decide to dump the PDP.

Jonathan Says No More Negotiation With ASUU

Jonathan Says No More Negotiation With ASUU
President Goodluck Jonathan is claiming that ASUU has been infiltrated by elements of the opposition. He said the federal has tried its best to meet the demands made by ASUU to a substantial level, insisting that they should no longer be reluctant to go back to the classroom and perform their duties.

But ASUU, on its part, stressed that there is no point negotiating what they already discussed, negotiated and concluded with the same government over three years ago. So, who is fooling who?

Students of government owned universities will remain at home for a long time until the federal government and its agents stop blaming the opposition and take necessary actions.

Jonathan should release N87bn to ASUU and lets see if opposition can stop them from go back to work!
